IPC-7711/21 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) 1-SEP-2025
This in-depth, hands-on course provides comprehensive training and certification based on the IPC 7711/7721 Standard; the electronics industry’s recognised guideline for the rework, repair, and modification of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs). Designed for technicians, assemblers, engineers, and quality control personnel, the course covers the practical skills and technical knowledge needed to effectively restore and extend the life of complex electronic assemblies.
Participants will be trained in industry-approved techniques for removing and replacing both surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole components, as well as repairing damaged circuit board features such as lands, conductors, and laminate materials. The course also includes instruction on the safe and effective removal and replacement of conformal coatings, and outlines the proper tools, materials, and methods required to meet IPC standards.
Emphasising hands-on application, students will work on real-world samples to demonstrate their ability to perform high-quality rework, repair, and modification tasks with minimal impact on board integrity and long-term reliability. Each module combines detailed lectures with supervised practical exercises to reinforce understanding of IPC 7711/7721 procedures.
Successful certification actively helps organisations reduce costs associated with scrapping flawed assemblies by enabling skilled restoration of expensive or complex PCBs, improving sustainability and product lifecycle management.
